Privacy

Useful guidance, limited data. This policy covers decisionshelf.com and messages sent to Decision Shelf. It explains the information involved in reading our pages, using the worksheet and contacting us.

Effective and last reviewed:

Privacy at a glance

Read guides without an account. Worksheet entries are not submitted to us. We use limited site and search reports to understand page performance. Emailing us shares the information in your message.

When you visit

Our hosting service receives connection information, including an IP address, to deliver pages securely. The site access log records request time, page path, request method and response status. It excludes IP addresses, query strings and browser user-agent identifiers. Error and infrastructure security logs can contain IP addresses and other connection or request details needed to diagnose failures and abuse.

Page-request counts help us understand which pages are requested and whether the site works. They include bots and repeat requests; they are not unique visitor counts. We do not build visitor profiles or measure individual shopping behavior.

Cookies, browser storage and the worksheet

The site does not set cookies or use browser storage for analytics, advertising or saved profiles. Images and styles are served from our own domain; we do not embed social feeds, advertising pixels or third-party tracking scripts.

The desk-fit worksheet has no submission function. Measurements you enter stay in the page in your browser; Decision Shelf does not receive them. Your browser may retain entries through its own restoration or autofill features. Printing or saving a copy uses your device and chosen print or storage service.

We do not track activity across other websites, sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no tracking feature here for Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control to switch off; the current site behaves the same with either signal enabled.

Search performance reports

Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools provide reports about how our pages appear in their search results. Our reporting connection retrieves aggregate performance by date or page, such as impressions and clicks, rather than a list of identified visitors. It does not add tracking code to your visit.

Your use of those search services is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

When you email us

You can send corrections and privacy questions to corrections@decisionshelf.com. Your email provider and the services that route and store our mail process the message. We receive the sender address, any name you supply, the message, attachments and associated email metadata.

This information is used to assess the request, check relevant evidence, respond when appropriate and maintain a record of the issue. Please send only what is needed. Do not include passwords, payment details, identity documents or private order records. Reporting an error does not subscribe you to marketing.

A correction may be described publicly, but our policy is to omit the reporter’s name, email address and private correspondence unless publication is authorized or legally required.

Service providers, storage and retention

Contabo provides the infrastructure hosting this site. Hosting, security and email service providers may process information as needed to operate and protect these services. Processing can occur outside your state or country. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or needed to investigate abuse and protect the service.

The site’s access and error logs are configured for daily rotation with 28 archived files retained. Empty logs are not rotated, so this is not a guarantee that every entry disappears after 28 calendar days. Other infrastructure logs follow their own rotation settings. Aggregate site and search reports may be kept longer to compare performance over time.

Our retention policy is to keep correspondence for the time needed to resolve the issue, preserve evidence of a correction or meet applicable legal obligations. A published correction can remain part of the article’s history without identifying its reporter.

Your choices and requests

For questions about information you have shared, or a request to access, correct or delete it, email corrections@decisionshelf.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. Describe the request and use the email address involved where possible. Applicable rights and any exceptions depend on your location and the information concerned.

We may need proportionate information to establish that a request relates to you. Do not send identity documents with an initial request. We cannot identify your visits from aggregate counts or erase records controlled independently by your browser, email provider, search engine or another website.

External links take you to services with their own privacy practices. This site is intended for adults planning websites and workspaces and does not provide children’s accounts or invite children to submit personal information.

Changes to this policy

The effective date above identifies this version. Material changes will be described on this page, with a new effective date and any additional notice required by applicable law. Changes to the tools we use must be reflected in the information we give you.

Website cost calculations

Amounts entered in a cost worksheet stay in the page in your browser. The calculator has no submission or saved-account function; Decision Shelf does not receive those inputs.

September 15, 2026 update: clarified local website cost calculations and the expanded website collection. This adds no input collection or tracking.
